Geo-based content naming and forwarding mechanism for vehicular networking over CCN

چکیده
Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) network is a promising technology to enhance road safety. It is also the fundamental technology to implement vehicular technology and application such as autonomous driving, firmware over the air (FOTA) for in-vehicle electronic control unit (ECU). However, the IP based on end-host addressing is not well suited for certain vehicular applications. Content-centric networking (CCN) is a promising paradigm of future internet architecture. CCN communication is based on content but not address due to the fact that content becomes more important than address. Especially in V2V network, candidates prefer content rather than location. Therefore, a novel-naming scheme based on CCN for V2V communication scenario is proposed. Also, a novel forwarding mechanism well suited for this naming scheme is proposed. The simulation results show that the proposed mechanism is much more efficient than the current proposal and is a promising solution for the vehicular information network in the future.

Combing CCN with network coding: An architectural perspective
Content-centric networking and network coding both revolve around content distribution, trading storage and computation for bandwidth respectively. Although it was believed network coding benefits CCN, the real advantages, architectural implications and design choices are not fully explored. In this paper, we first investigated the possible advantages of combing network coding with CCN. We argu...
متن کاملLearning Forwarding Mechanism in Content-centric Networking
In Content-centric Networking (CCN), data names are carried in packets without specifying IP addresses. This change leads to a new network forwarding model: CCN routers forward Interest (request) and Data packets using only their names. One major challenge is realizing intelligent forwarding of Interest packets over multiple available paths according to a Forwarding Information Base (FIB), whic...
متن کاملTraC: A Trajectory-aware Content distribution strategy for vehicular networks
In vehicular networking, contacts have short duration and may seldom occur. Hence, maximizing the amount of data transferred per contact opportunity is of utmost importance. In this work, we propose TraC which combines network nodes caching, typically used in Content-Centric Networks (CCNs), and users’ trajectory knowledge. The idea is to improve data delivery by proactively caching the content...
متن کاملEfficient Lookup Scheme for Non-aggregatable Name Prefixes and Its Evaluation
Content-Centric Networking (CCN) employs a hierarchical but location independent content naming scheme. While such a location independent naming brings various benefits including efficient content delivery, mobility, and multihoming, location independent name prefixes are hard to aggregate. This poses a serious scaling issue on the efficiency of looking up content names in a huge Forwarding Inf...
متن کاملLiving in a PIT-less World: A Case Against Stateful Forwarding in Content-Centric Networking
Information-Centric Networking (ICN) is a recent paradigm that claims to mitigate some limitations of the current IP-based Internet architecture. The centerpiece of ICN is named and addressable content, rather than hosts or interfaces. ContentCentric Networking (CCN) is a prominent ICN instance that shares the fundamental architectural design with its equally popular academic sibling Named-Data...
